Indian River County, Florida
Indian River County was created in 1925. It was named for the Indian River Lagoon, which runs through the eastern portion of the county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 617 square miles, 114 square miles of it water (18.43%). Approximately 136,000 people call Indian River County their home.
Indian River County is conveniently located halfway between Miami and Jacksonville and directly across the state from Tampa. It is approximately 1 ½ hour from Orlando and Palm Beach, a big plus for visitors and business travelers. It is home to general aviation manufacturer Piper Aircraft and Velocity Aircraft as well as the CVS distribution Center.

Vero Beach
The City of Vero Beach is the county seat and the largest incorporated municipality with an estimated population of more than 17,700. Greenery, open space, unspoiled beaches, and ocean vistas characterize this community which is the commercial and cultural center of the county. Originally a stop on the Florida East Coast Railroad, Vero Beach was incorporated in 1910. The city is under a council-manager form of government. Sebastian
At the northern end of the county, Sebastian is a community of an estimated 16,181 people. It grew up around the fishing industry and today is enjoyed by residents as well as visitors for surfing, fishing, swimming, boating and other water-oriented activities. An incorporated city, Sebastian has the friendliness of a small town. It has a council-manager form of government. Fellsmere
A rural town of an estimated 3,800 residents in northwestern Indian River County, Fellsmere was once a center for growing sugar cane and pineapple. Today, the community's economy is based on citrus crops and cattle. It is incorporated and has a council-mayor form of government.
